Zonta clubs of aan de Leede and Kampala collaborate to help teachers and students cope with COVID-19

The Zonta Club of aan de Leede, Netherlands, collaborated with the Zonta Club of Kampala in Uganda in 2020 to help schoolchildren and teachers cope with COVID-19.

Teaching children to make soap and face masks was the goal. These skills, once learned, can easily be taught to others. Once the pandemic retreats, the sewing skills needed to make masks can also be used to make sanitary pads.

The Dutch Zontians focused on fundraising, the Ugandan Zontians focused on implementing the project goals. The challenge of doing so in such adverse circumstances was great.
