Zonta Club of Milano Sant'Ambrogio represented at meeting with Women20 Board

The Zonta Club of Milano Sant'Ambrogio, Italy, established contact with the Italian delegation that will lead the Women20 (W20) Board in 2021.

On 9 November, the Milan Women's Council, in collaboration with the University Politecnico di Milano and the Italian Delegation to the W20, organized a meeting with the Italian W20 Board, in view of the passing of the presidency from Saudi Arabia to Italy in 2021.

Women 20 is an official G20 engagement group established during the Turkish presidency in 2015, whose primary objective is to ensure that gender issues are mainstreamed into G20 discussions and translate into policies and commitments that foster gender equality and women’s economic empowerment.

Elena Federici Ballini, past president of the Zonta Club of Milano Sant'Ambrogio and their representative in the Women's Council, gave the closing remarks: “How and what to do to draw the lines of a new global Renaissance? Women’s skills, experiences and points of view," focusing on some key elements towards increasing female talent inclusion:

  • Increase women resources in employment and entrepreneurship
  • Reduce waste
  • Reinvigorate the sense of trust
  • Develop gender-responsive medicine and protection of personal safety
  • Support education and culture.

Elena concluded the meeting by suggesting a permanent table of discussion between the W20 representatives and the women's associations like Zonta International. Establishing a direct contact with the Italian delegation while it is preparing to take over the W20 leadership next January is a significant step forward for Zonta’s advocacy actions and visibility.
