Zonta Club of Canon City-Royal Gorge donates supplies to several local centers yearly

Members of the Zonta Club of Canon City/Royal Gorge, District 12, have been supporting local women's centers for years. The club contributes to the Family Crisis Center, Rocky Mountain Behavioral, Inc., and the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Program.

Zontians collect toiletries and clothing to give to the organizations, aiming to help women and girls in the local community. Many of the items go to women recovering from drug and alcohol abuse or domestic violence.

The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Program expressed the need for clothing for survivors of sexual assault to wear home after their clothing is kept as evidence. Since this request, club members have been collecting sweatpants to donate to the program.

A mother of a sexual assault survivor told club members she first heard of Zonta because of the donations and said she was very thankful and kept the sweatpants as a reminder of the good in the world.
