Zonta Club of Alytus sponsors summer camp for Lithuanian and Ukrainian children

This summer, the Zonta Club of Alytus, Lithuania, partnered with the Alytus Youth Center and Tarškutis, a dance group, to sponsor a children's summer recreation day camp for Lithuanian and Ukrainian children to have a fun and meaningful time.

To make the camp possible, the club held a fundraising evening featuring Antanas Saulynas, a Lithuanian poet and invited the residents of Alytus. The locals united to raise more than 2,000 euros, which helped pay for the transportation costs, a field trip to an alpaca farm and the educational activities.

The camp lasted three weeks, and had almost 100 campers participating. One of the beneficiaries was 5-year-old Olivia from Ukraine. Accompanied by her mother, Olivia participated in all the activities and performances the camp offered, sang Ukrainian folk songs and got acquainted with Ukrainian traditions. Olivia and the other campers thanked the club for a fun and special summer program.
