Z Club Saint Sofia Next Generation holds charity concert for climate justice

To celebrate the World Day of Social Justice, the Z Club Saint Sofia Next Generation, Bulgaria, organized a charity concert under the slogan, "Through music donate, the planet's life is saved."

The concert was held in partnership with the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, the leading musical institution in Bulgaria, and the ClassicArt String Quartet and Ensemble, a chamber ensemble part of the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra. The soloists of the concert were students who are professionally involved in music and are laureates of national and international competitions from different schools in the capital, such as 38 Primary School "Vasil Aprilov," 32 Secondary School of Foreign Languages "St. Kliment Ohridski," the American College of Sofia and the National School of Music "Lyubomir Pipkov" - Sofia.

On 17 February, the student club opened the event, telling about their past initiatives and introducing the audience to the launch of their newest innovative project: Hair for Soil, which uses hair from hairdressing salons to fertilize the soil in parks and public spaces.

One of Zonta International's essential projects is related to climate justice and its negative impact on people and the environment. The student club believes the voice of Generation Z must be heard, emphasizing that climate change requires swift and decisive action now. The club's innovative project is to protect the environment and the planet's natural resources by transforming hair waste from salons into an eco-improvement for the soil.

The Hair for Soil project partners with Matter of Trust, a global NGO that uses hair in oil spill response and soil fertilization. The charity concert aimed to increase the project's popularity and encourage more hairdressers and mayors in the capital and around the country to get involved.

The concert was highly emotional and full of wonderful moments. All the participants supported the project by attending free of charge, as did the audience, who showed their full support with loud applause in the full hall.

The event was supported by the ladies from the mentor club Zonta Club Saint Sofia and the Zonta clubs of Burgas, Plovdiv and Sofia. The student club thanked them for being together and giving hope for the planet's future.

Events like this are crucial to the community because, as part of the family of the world's leading women's service organization, it is an honor to be part of a community that shapes a taste for high art, style, and values. Through art, the student club's projects will reach deep into the people's hearts.

The student club received a plaque from the ensemble, which was presented to Club President Svetlozar Dimitrov for the joint initiative and the excellent partnership.
