District Governor Ore Renner visits Abidjan, Ghana, Nigeria and Togo

District Governor Ore Renner recently visited 12 clubs in Abidjan, Ghana, Nigeria and Togo to see how they had progressed during the COVID-19 pandemic in this biennium while also addressing the district's biennial goals.

Ore was impressed by the clubs' activities, which showed a lot of creativity, resilience, ingenuity and adaptability. She also saw some of their projects and the Z and Golden Z clubs' projects. The highlights of her visits were:

  • Learning about the Stem Needs Girls project.
  • Discovering that the Zonta Club of Ibadan I, Nigeria, sponsors 10 Z clubs.
  • Realizing that the Zonta Club of Accra II supported a health project at the Korle-bu Hospital.
  • Attending a Zonta Says NO to Violence Against Women marketing program.

During her travels, Ore had the privilege to meet with some distinguished figures, such as the mayor of Cocody, Jean-Marc Yacé, the First Lady of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Rebecca Akufu-Addo and the King of Lagos, Oba Saheed Ademola of Ikate Elegushi, Lagos.

Ore applauds her district for what they have accomplished, especially with the frequent lockdowns. She is incredibly proud and would like to congratulate everyone on a successful biennium, showing that they've embraced Zonta's mission and vision through their activities and fellowship.
