Zonta Club of Hua-Lian leads NT$200,000 donation for youth halfway home

The Zonta Club of Hua-Lian, Taiwan, was instrumental in organizing the Hualien Earthquake Donation Ceremony, where Peng Wanting, chairman of Zhongjun Co., Ltd. and Gilles Dumouchel, founder of Vivienne Diamant, generously donated NT$200,000 to support the Kaige Garden Youth Halfway Home.

This facility provides essential services to children from challenging backgrounds, including those facing poverty, single parenthood and abuse. The home offers not only basic living necessities but also psychological counseling and educational training to help these children find their path in life.

Peng Li-Ping, club president, expressed deep gratitude to Peng Wanting for her support, which made the donation event possible. The club president emphasized the importance of such collaborations between organizations and private enterprises to support disadvantaged communities in the community. She hopes this partnership will inspire future efforts to assist vulnerable social welfare units and children in need.

Following the 0403 earthquake in Hualien, Taiwan, the local tourism industry faced significant challenges as visitors hesitated to return. In response to the Hualien County Magistrate’s call to revive local tourism, the Zonta Club of Hua-Lian took action. The club members, along with their families, organized a sightseeing tour to support the local tourism and accommodation sectors. Their efforts aimed to help the region recover from the downturn and encourage more visitors to return, boosting Hualien's economy and resilience.
