Zonta Clubs in Taiwan donate funds to help rebuild Turkey and Syria

On 10 March, Zonta Clubs in the Republic of China (Taiwan), District 31, donated US$67,000 to the local Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation for the relief and reconstruction work in Turkey and Syria, including programs for women and children, in the aftermath of the February devastative earthquakes.

Powen Yen, the CEO of Tzu Chi, accepted the donation from District Governor Li-Chin Lin, who was accompanied by Zontians Lily Chien, Susan Yeh, Shiow-Hua Chiou and others. The Zontians were also briefed by Tzu Chi's relief team, who had just returned from the frontline work in the quake-stricken areas, on the reconstruction needs in the immediate future. The funds would also be used for relief, protection and empowerment programs for women and children to help them overcome difficulties and build a new life.
