Burgers, Bayanihan and relief efforts
In the aftermath of the late July typhoon, women-led organizations and civic partners stepped forward to provide comfort and nourishment to displaced families across the city.
On 27 July, the Zonta Club of Laguna, Philippines and JCI Damas De San Pedro partnered with local food business Bochog’s On the Go to distribute burgers to 100 children at the Cuyab evacuation center. The effort not only offered hot meals but also lifted spirits and reinforced solidarity between civic groups and the community.
That same day, evacuees at the Wekwek center in Barangay Landayan received the same warm gesture. Families displaced by the storm were reminded that compassion remains abundant even in crisis, as the burger distribution provided a sense of comfort while simultaneously supporting a small business affected by the disaster.
The day before, on July 26, a second wave of relief operations led by Dr. Mhie Borabien, Dr. Cres and the MOB Foundation reached multiple evacuation sites across San Pedro City, including centers in Landayan, San Roque, Nueva, Rosario Complex, Sampaguita and Cuyab. Families received hot sopas, freshly baked monay and clean drinking water, with special attention given to children and the elderly.
