Zonta Club of Kauai spreads breast cancer awareness

During their October General Membership Meeting, the Zonta Club of Kauai, USA, dressed in pink as a sign of support for breast cancer survivors, a tradition they have done for the past couple of years.

Club member Regina Carvalho, a retired nurse, would remind members and those in their community to do monthly breast exams and a self-exam for any lumps.

The club also hopes that wearing pink will spread awareness that breast cancer can happen to women and men. In Hawaii, more than 1,400 people are diagnosed with breast cancer each year.
