Zonta Club of Kauai launches Zontians Oppose Period Poverty service project

On 14 March, the Zonta Club of Kauai launched its Zontians Oppose Period Poverty service project, asking individuals and businesses to donate menstrual products to six donation sites on Kauai.

Pre-selected recipients will receive "kindness totes" for women and girls needing menstrual products. The pre-selected recipients are Wilcox Elementary School health room, YMCA Kauai, Catholic Charities Hawaii and Kauai Economic Opportunity.

By the end of the service project, the club packed and distributed more than 200 "kindness totes" to the representatives of the pre-selected recipients.

Period poverty refers to a lack of access to menstrual products, sanitation facilities, and adequate education. Teenagers are typical of those most at risk to experience period poverty.
