Zonta Club of Ilocos Norte visits Urban Farming project location

The Zonta Club Ilocos Norte, the Philippines, visited one of their urban farming project locations at Barangay 27, Muestra Senora de Soledad. The Urban Farming: Pantawid Kababaihan Sa Kahirapan aims to provide realistic livelihood essential to 25 mothers of Barangay 27 through urban farming. It is a joint project with the Laoag City Agriculture Office.

For this project, the barangay cleaned up a vacant lot. The agriculture office provided soil preparation training and planting techniques for seedlings. The club provided farming equipment tools.

The club and agriculture office hopes that the Urban Farming project serves as another alternative source of income and provides additional food security to the households.
