Zonta Club of Alytus makes a difference for its community

The Zonta Club of Alytus, Lithuania, continues to be a shining beacon of hope and kindness by empowering its community in numerous club actions.

Spreading kindness campaign

In celebration of World Kindness Day of 13 November, the club partnered with the Alytus Social Services Centre and friends to hold an "It is good to share kindness" campaign.

From 10 to 24 November, the club rallied their community to donate necessary items for the center, such as shampoo, body wash, toothpaste and toothbrushes, diapers and many other things.

A concert of goodwill

The club partnered with its local rotary club to hold a charity concert on 25 November. All proceeds will be donated to Nojus, a disabled child. Since birth, Nojus has never walked, has gastrostomy and has issues breathing by themself. Their family financially struggles to buy them the food necessary for their special diet and cannot afford a special wheelchair and highchair.

Vocalist Paulius Bagdanavičius from the band "el Fuego" and violinist Lijana Žiedelytė performed in the concert. The ticket price is 20 euros.

Celebrating National Pie Day with kindness

In Lithuania, National Pie Day is an initiative to support children who need special treatment and medical equipment. In honor of that, the club united with the Drevinukas kindergarten school, their parents, and their community to help a little friend get well soon.

With the help of Alytus City Theatre and the Putinai Gymnastic community, the club donated 3,100 euros.

As the great Lithuanian writer V. Juknaitė says, "in small corners of the world, small people, doing small, good works, are slowly changing the face of the world."

Supporting the Dzūkija Lions Club

The club participated in a charity concert at the Alytus City Theatre. Organized by the Dzūkija Lions Club, the event commemorates the memory of the poet, lyricist, teacher and author of the lyrics of the anthem of the city of Alytus, Antanas Saulynas.

Proceeds from the event will help install a musical bench in memory of Antanas on Žalioji Street.
