Zonta Clubs of Taoyuan and Kanazawa forge sisterhood at 3rd Asian Inter-District Meeting
The Zonta Club of Taoyuan, Taiwan, and the Zonta Club of Kanazawa, Japan, signed a sisterhood agreement during the 3rd Asian Inter-District Meeting in Fukuoka, Japan, on 6 April.
Taoyuan Club President Liu Phon Huang expressed gratitude to all members who worked tirelessly to make the event possible, stating it was an honor for Taoyuan to establish a connection with the Kanazawa club. Kanazawa, known for its rich blend of contemporary and historical Japanese culture—including gold leaf craftsmanship, the innovative spirit of the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art and the beauty of Gyokuseninmaru Garden—left a strong impression on the Taoyuan delegation, who expressed hopes for a future visit.
President Liu also extended an invitation for Kanazawa members to visit Taoyuan, describing it as a vibrant city with a young, productive population and a tradition of warm hospitality.
During the ceremony, club members shared meaningful conversations and exchanged gifts that reflected their cultural heritage.
The signing was witnessed by Zonta International President Salla, President-Elect Fernanda, two Zonta International Board members and the governors of Districts 26 and 31, along with more than 100 Zontians in attendance.
President Liu shared her hopes that the two clubs would continue to strengthen ties through cultural exchange, shared service projects and resource sharing, working together to build a better world for women and girls.
