Zonta Club of New Territories promotes low carbon living

The Zonta Club of New Territories, Hong Kong, has taken on the challenge of carbon reduction by collaborating with different organizations in fundraising project "Low Carbon Cooking and Living for the Environment and the Future".

With support from Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden, staff from the participating organizations and members of the club and Z Club students underwent training on low carbon cooking, organic farming, biodiversity protection and green building. A Low Carbon Recipe Competition was held after the workshops, allowing participants to apply their newfound knowledge. Especially outstanding recipes were set to be displayed on the club's website for public viewing.

On 16 May, at the JC Cube of Tai Kwun, Dr. Bernard Chan Pak-li, Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of the HKSAR Government, presented commemorative souvenirs to the companies and organizations that sponsored the fundraising project, with 5 gold sponsors and 17 silver sponsors recognized.

To encourage youth involvement in community service, the club established Z Clubs at Sacred Heart Canossian College and Heep Yunn School, along with a Golden Z Club at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. These clubs provide students with various training and exposure activities, preparing them for greater engagement within the community. Both Z clubs participated in the event, showing their commitment to empowering the next generation to make a difference.
