Zonta Club of Tuguegarao celebrates Women's Month

The Zonta Club of Tuguegarao, Philippines, marked International Women’s Day and National Women’s Month with a strong commitment to women’s empowerment, self-care and advocacy, participating in community initiatives and media discussions to promote gender equality.

On 8 March, in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tuguegarao, the club joined the “Self-Love, Self-Care Beauty Caravan” at Robinsons Place Tuguegarao, hosting the “Empower Your Beauty: Women’s Day Free Derma Special.” Led by Club President Liza Mora-Arroyo and Past President Dr. Evelyn Puzon-Guzman, the initiative provided 60 women with free dermatological consultations and treatments, with medicines donated by Galderma Philippines and Beauchamps Pharmacy. Zonta members assisted in patient care and medicine dispensing, reinforcing the importance of self-care for confidence, well-being and empowerment.

Beyond healthcare, the club amplified its advocacy efforts by joining Zonta's #AdvanceYourAdvocacy campaign, symbolizing its commitment to educating the next generation on women’s rights and gender equality. Mothers, educators and Zontians Anna and Chast posed with their children, reflecting the club’s mission to #AccelerateAction in creating a future where women and girls thrive.

Extending its advocacy to a broader platform, the club took part in a special episode of "Populasyon: Pag-usapan Natin!" on DZDA Radyo Pangkaunlaran on 11 March, hosted by the Commission on Population and Development Region II (CPD RII) as part of the National Women’s Month Celebration. Club officers President Liza Mora-Arroyo, Vice President Herita Macarubbo and Past President Ann Posadas Chua joined the discussion, sharing insights on women’s rights, gender-sensitive programs and the importance of women in nation-building. The conversation also covered the club's advocacy in preventing adolescent pregnancies, eliminating violence against women and girls and increasing male involvement in responsible parenthood and family planning.

Through these initiatives, the club reaffirmed its commitment to women’s empowerment, gender equality and community development, reinforcing its role in building a better world for women and girls through healthcare, advocacy and education.
