Zonta Club of Tuguegarao and Cagayan State University unite for women’s empowerment

The Zonta Club of Tuguegarao, Philippines, reaffirmed its commitment to community engagement and women’s empowerment through its active participation in two major events at Cagayan State University (CSU).

During the FY 2026 Budget Consultation at CSU Andrews Claude Gymnasium, Club Board Member and Past President Ann P. Chua represented the club as a Civil Society Organization (CSO) delegate. With the theme “Inclusive Progress: Shaping University Budget for All through Civic Society Organizations and Stakeholder Engagement,” the event emphasized transparency, accountability and public participation in budget planning. The club's involvement aligns with its mission to advocate for education, leadership and inclusive development.

The club also played a key role in CSU’s Women’s Month Kick-off Program at the CSU-Carig Red Eagle Gymnasium. The club’s partnership with the university, formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on gender and development initiatives, continues to drive impactful programs that empower women and girls.

Club President Liza M. Arroyo served as the Inspirational Speaker, sharing insights on leadership, empowerment and fostering a safe, inclusive society for women. Her advocacy resonated with CSU’s efforts to promote gender equality, making her participation a highlight of the program.

The event was also spearheaded by Dr. Trician Jan Taguba-Villarosa, MD, FPOGS, CSU’s Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Person and a dedicated club member. Her dual role exemplifies the shared commitment of CSU and the club to advancing women’s rights through education, community service and advocacy.

With the theme "Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas," the program underscored the vital role of women in nation-building. As the club and CSU continue to strengthen their collaboration, their united efforts serve as a beacon of hope for a more inclusive and empowered future for women in Cagayan.
