The Zonta Club of New Rochelle, USA, in collaboration with the New Rochelle Public Library, celebrated its 10th annual Women’s Film Series, featuring three days of films by women about women. The event highlighted powerful stories of resilience, advocacy and social justice.
The series opened with the international documentary "Light Fly, Fly High," which follows an aspiring female boxer in India overcoming societal barriers.
On the second day, two impactful documentaries were screened. "Without a Whisper" explores the role of Mohawk Bear Clan Mother Louise Herne and Professor Sally Roesch Wagner in correcting the historical narrative of women’s rights in the U.S. Meanwhile, "Women Organize!" portrays women leaders across the country engaged in the fight for racial, social and economic justice.
The series will conclude at the end of March with a student film night, showcasing short films produced by students from Sarah Lawrence College’s Filmmaking and Moving Image Arts Department.
In addition to the screenings, the club honored Eva Singletary, the recipient of the Zonta Young Women in Public Affairs Award, recognizing her dedication to leadership and community service.
