Zonta Club of Metro Greenhills leads the refill revolution
In partnership with the eco-warrior founders of Back to Basics Ecostore, the Zonta Club of Metro Greenhills, Philippines, has proudly taken up the call for environmental stewardship by championing the refill revolution. Under the leadership of Club President Shine Ruiz and her daughter Zari Ruiz, the club has been actively campaigning since 2024 to promote sustainable living through community-based refilling initiatives.
With schools and local neighborhoods as their starting point, Shine and Zari have been spreading the word: Refilling is not just a trend—it's a movement. By encouraging the use of refill stations for everyday household products, the club aims to dramatically cut down the drawbacks of single-use plastic and the waste that comes with it. From saying "no" to plastic utensils to refusing unnecessary packaging, small daily choices are adding up to lasting change.
As part of their Earth Day celebration, District 17, led by the Zonta club, will host a conversation on the District 17 Area 1 Facebook page, focusing on the intersection of climate change and gender. The discussion will highlight how environmental degradation disproportionately affects women and how practical steps like refilling can empower communities to act.
The club urges others to join the caravan of refilling and take the first step towards a greener future.
