Zonta Club of Mandaluyong-San Juan I uplifts senior citizens

The Zonta Club of Mandaluyong-San Juan I, Philippines, continued its commitment to senior citizens through its flagship project, “Kalinga Kay Ina” (Care for Our Elderly Mothers), an initiative launched in 1996 under Dr. Rosario Bustos-Atencio.

The program, conceptualized by Advocacy Chair Dolores De Quiros-Castillo, serves indigent elderly women in Mandaluyong and San Juan by providing wellness training, healthcare support, life coaching and annual Christmas gift-giving.

In collaboration with the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), the club hosted a post-Valentine’s event for 600 senior citizens in Barangay Addition Hills, Mandaluyong. The club distributed 600 bags of assorted noodles, burger sandwiches and bottled water, following a healthy cooking demo led by OSCA.

The event was attended by OSCA Head and former Councilor Francisco “Boy” Esteban, along with Club Immediate Past President Teresita Ochoa, Past President Marilyn Golangco-Del Bianco and Project Committee Chair Ma. Theresa San Luis. OSCA Administrator Mila Lagaran assisted in the organized distribution, ensuring all participants were accommodated in batches.

The smiles of the 600 senior citizens reflected the joy of the event, reinforcing the club’s mission to uplift and care for the elderly in their community.
