Zonta Club of Isabela combines health, safety and sustainability in Women's Month outreach
The Zonta Club of Isabela, Philippines, continues to raise awareness and spark dialogue on critical issues affecting women through its dynamic partnerships and outreach programs. On 23 March, the club hosted an informative radio segment as part of the ongoing Boses ng Zonta Isabela series, in collaboration with 104.9 xFM Santiago, highlighting breast cancer awareness and the importance of early screening.
Led by Zontian Dr. Alma Marie Manango Octavo-Tagare, the session focused on educating the listening public about breast cancer risk factors, symptoms, prevention and the significance of early detection. The program also tackled common misconceptions, emphasized the role of breast self-exams and mammograms, and shared up-to-date medical guidance to encourage proactive health management among women.
In a complementary effort to further its Women’s Month campaign, the club partnered with St. Ferdinand College to host a lecture addressing two pressing issues affecting women today: cyberviolence and climate justice. Zontian Clarissa Favor led the discussion on cyberviolence, focusing on digital safety, online harassment and legal protections, while Zontian Ramorelia Caranay delivered insights into climate justice and its disproportionate impact on women, particularly in vulnerable communities.
Together, these efforts reflect a holistic and inclusive approach to women’s empowerment—tackling both personal health and broader systemic challenges. By combining media outreach with educational forums, the club reinforces its commitment to building a more informed, resilient and equitable society for women and girls.
The club’s collaboration with xFM Santiago and local academic institutions underscores its mission to broaden access to vital information and ensure that women’s voices—and rights—are heard, protected and celebrated.
