Zonta Club of Isabela celebrates women's leadership and advocacy on International Women’s Day
The Zonta Club of Isabela, Philippines, marked International Women’s Day by honoring remarkable women making a difference in their communities and advocating for women’s rights and leadership.
The club celebrated the contributions of Attorney Katrina Legarda, a dedicated advocate for the rights and well-being of women and children in the Philippines.
Attorney Legarda is a prominent Filipino lawyer specializing in family law and is the director of the National Network of the Child Protection Network Foundation (CPN). Under her leadership, CPN has expanded from a single child protection unit at the Philippine General Hospital to 106 child protection facilities across the country. In collaboration with the Philippine Judicial Academy, the Department of Health, the Department of Justice, the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Philippine National Police, CPN has trained professionals to handle cases of child abuse with sensitivity and care.
Attorney Legarda’s dedication inspires women and girls to pursue their passions and use their talents to make a difference. She is a powerful example of how women can be agents of change in their communities and beyond.
Her work serves as a reminder of the importance of women’s leadership in creating a more just and equitable society. She continues to break barriers, challenge injustice and advocate for a world free from violence against women and children. She is an empowered woman who empowers others—embodying the spirit of International Women’s Day by using her voice, skills and influence to build a better world for women and girls.
Additionally, the club partnered with the Local Government of Mallig, Isabela, which featured a full-day event providing medical services, a legal symposium and the Selection and Awarding of Remarkable Women of Mallig. The event highlighted the club’s strong collaboration with local government units in recognizing and empowering women.
Through these initiatives, the club continues to honor women’s leadership, advocacy and community engagement, reinforcing its mission to build a better world for women and girls.
