Zonta Club of Hualien II holds February meeting and Lunar New Year celebration
The Zonta Club of Hualien II, Taiwan, celebrated its February meeting and Lunar New Year costume party at the Hualien Parkview Hotel, highlighting key achievements and fostering international collaboration.
During the meeting, Club President Daisy Chen recognized three major milestones:
- Successful fundraising efforts led by members and Zonta Girl Scholarship recipients for charity.
- A Zoom meeting with the Zonta Club of Ibadan I, Nigeria, to establish a sister club partnership.
- The Zonta Girls Shining Stars Scholarship, supporting female students in remote areas, was featured in The Zontian magazine as the only global education equity project recognized.
The club also distributed its Charter Handbook, outlining both international and local initiatives.
A highlight of the evening was a special talk by Cheng Wei-Sheng, leader of the Against the Wind Theatre Group, who shared his inspiring journey from a troubled youth to a community leader. The club had previously donated to the theater group, but the members found themselves equally inspired by its work—embodying the Zonta spirit of giving and empowerment.
The Lunar New Year costume party, hosted by team leader Chang Hsiang-Ling, featured creative performances, friendly competitions and a lively raffle with prizes donated by members. A Zonta knowledge quiz also engaged attendees, reinforcing their understanding of the organization.
The event concluded on a high note, with attendees celebrating camaraderie and shared commitment to Zonta’s mission of advancing women’s rights and education worldwide.
