Zonta Club of Hilo Seeks Female Applicants for Business & STEM Awards

The Zonta Club of Hilo, HI, USA, seeks applicants for the Women in Business Leadership Award and the Women in STEM Award.

“Women have made great strides in the pursuit of education, careers, and leadership roles we were once denied. However, we still comprise a minority of leaders in the business world. Women hold nearly 34% of committee chairs in the S&P 500 and 31% of director seats, as of March 2023. Only 8.2% of S&P 500 company CEOs are women,” noted Zonta Club of Hilo President Julie Tulang.

The Zonta Women in Business Leadership Award celebrates excellence and recognizes outstanding achievements by women between 18-35 years of age who are driving innovation and creating an impact in the business world. This prestigious award honors exceptional leadership, entrepreneurial spirit, ethical conduct, and significant contributions while addressing global or local issues affecting women and girls or climate justice. The deadline is 15 April.

The Zonta Women in STEM Award uplifts innovation and celebrates the remarkable accomplishments of women between 18-35 years of age in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields and acknowledges their groundbreaking research, pioneering discoveries, and/or exemplary contributions to advancing knowledge and innovation in a STEM field. The deadline is 1 May.

“By recognizing and supporting these exceptional women, Zonta aims to inspire future generations and foster inclusivity and diversity in the world of STEM,” said Tulang.

Top winners of these two local awards will be advanced from the club level to compete for additional awards at the district and international levels of Zonta.
