Women Empowerment Through Career Opportunities
On 19 March, the Zonta Club of Greater Rizal II, Philippines, hosted a daylong Job Fair and Career Talk at the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA–Las Piñas, aiming to empower graduating students through career opportunities and economic guidance.
The event welcomed more than 1,300 students, school administrators and representatives from 15 partner companies, including Kalibrr, a leading job search platform. Students engaged with potential employers offering a variety of positions across different industries, enhancing their job readiness and access to professional networks.
In parallel with the fair, a Career Talk was held in the university auditorium, drawing 600 attendees. The session featured three accomplished women speakers—Ms. Grace Lee, Ms. Mylene Abiva and Ms. Mariel Bitanga Kintanar—who shared personal stories of resilience, career progression and the challenges they overcame in their respective fields. Their insights offered not only guidance but inspiration for students navigating the evolving job market.
Club President Shirley Licup introduced Zonta International’s mission, vision and advocacy work to students—many of whom were hearing about the organization for the first time. She emphasized Zonta’s commitment to empowering women and advancing gender equality through service and advocacy.
The initiative also underscored how economic empowerment is key to preventing gender-based violence. By equipping young people—especially women—with career tools and opportunities, the event contributed to building financial independence and reducing vulnerability to abusive situations.
