Zonta Club of Dallas honors International Women’s Day with advocacy program

On 7 March, the Zonta Club of Dallas held its regular membership meeting at the Preston Royal Library in honor of Zonta Rose Day and International Women’s Day. Each member was presented with a yellow rose, symbolizing the bright light Zonta shines in its advocacy for women’s rights and gender equality.

The meeting featured a powerful presentation by Jodie Voice Yellowfish, an advocate from Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG), an organization founded in Dallas in 1989. The group was established after Josie, a community member, felt compelled to assist in the search for a young, pregnant missing American Indian woman. After tragically finding her, the urgency to continue searching for missing Indigenous women locally and nationwide became clear.

Members were deeply moved by Yellowfish’s presentation and expressed gratitude for the organization's efforts in bringing awareness to missing Indigenous women and advocating for justice.

As part of the International Women’s Day celebration, the club reaffirmed its commitment to achieving gender equality, advocating for women in decision-making roles, and amplifying the impact of Zonta’s work locally in North Texas and globally.
