Zonta Club of Aparri holds women empowerment seminars
The Zonta Club of Aparri, Philippines, in partnership with Cagayan State University (CSU) Aparri Campus through its Gender and Development Office, hosted a series of lecture seminars on 11 March, at the CSU Gymplex in celebration of Women’s Month.
With the theme “Babae sa lahat ng sektor, aangat ang bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas”, this year’s observance highlights the importance of women’s empowerment and the collective efforts across all sectors to foster gender equality.
The Zonta lectures serve as platforms for education, service, advocacy and community engagement. The club's mission is to promote human rights, fundamental freedoms, women’s empowerment, health awareness and ethical standards.
Guest speakers included Attorney Benifroi Pascual, who discussed key legislation such as the Magna Carta of Women (RA 9710), the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act (RA 7877), the Anti-Rape Law (RA 8505), the Anti-Discrimination Act (RA 6725) and Cybercrime Laws. Dr. Divina Gracia Arellano-Ramel provided an in-depth lecture on reproductive health, with a particular focus on cervical cancer awareness and prevention.
The club extends its gratitude to Campus Executive Officer Engr. Audy R. Quebral, GAD Focal Person Estela L. Dirai, and the entire CSU community for their support in making the event a success.
