Zonta Club of Alytus brings the joy of reading to young students
The Zonta Club of Alytus, Lithuania, gifted third-grade students at Miroslavas Gymnasium a special literary experience by arranging a meeting with children’s author Vytautas Račickas.
In celebration of the upcoming International Book Giving Day, observed annually on 14 February, Vytautas visited the school to engage with young readers and inspire a love for books. As part of the event, students also received a special gift from the author—a third book free with the purchase of two. Since its inception in 2012, International Book Giving Day has promoted the gifting of books to foster a global culture of reading.
The club further supported literacy efforts by donating books to the Alytus Jurgis Kunčinas Public Library, reinforcing its strong partnership with the institution.
This December, the club will mark its 30th anniversary, continuing its commitment to empowering girls and women through education.
