Zonta Club of Melbourne’s East Inc Recognized for Advocacy Project

At the recent District 23 Conference, a project from the Zonta Club of Melbourne’s East Inc was entered in the service and advocacy awards and received runner-up status. The recognition was for the Speaking Out display, nicknamed the "Orange Ladies."

The display has already been placed in several libraries and has generated conversations regarding International projects such as ending child marriage and preventing violence against women. This display is to raise awareness of these issues, encourage conversation, and provide resources that can assist victims and those around them.

The club recently received approval for the display to be placed in the City of Monash council office foyer during the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence this year. Members have been working collaboratively with the City of Monash staff and will also be lighting up the council building in orange during this time.
