Zonta Club of Jefferson City, MO Celebrates Zonta International’s Centennial with Awards, Donations
On 19 November the Zonta Club of Jefferson City, MO celebrated the centennial anniversary of Zonta International by honoring community members who have made a lasting impact on others by presenting them with District 7 Centennial Impact awards.
The club presented the Jefferson City Rape and Abuse Crisis Service with over 100 items donated by members as part of their Centennial Challenge. At the meeting, Mayor and fellow Zontian Carrie Tergin proclaimed 19 November as Zonta International Centennial Day and local historian Bob Priddy spoke about the significant impact women have had on the history of the state and Jefferson City.
“The mission of Zonta International is to empower women and girls through service and advocacy," Sarah Veile said. "We are honored to recognize the work in the Jefferson City area made by the individuals, agencies, and businesses that will be recognized for the support and services they provide for women in our community.”
The Zonta Club of Jefferson City, MO was chartered on the principals of the international organization by twenty local women on 17 April 1947.
