The Zonta Club of Central Tuguegarao, Philippines, celebrated the chartering and installation of its newly sponsored club, the Zonta Club of Northern Cagayan and Apayao on 9 August, at Elias K. Bulut Auditorium, Apayao State College.
As the Sponsoring, Organizing and Mentoring (SOM) club, the Zonta Club of Central Tuguegarao welcomed the newest Zonta club as its fourth baby club and the 12th in Area 4, joining earlier sponsored clubs in Nueva Vizcaya, Isabela and Quirino. The journey to form the new club began in 2020 under the leadership of Past Area 4 Director Mila Catabay-Lauigan and then-Club President Racquel C. Reyes-Aglaua, now serving as Area 4 director.
The new club launched with 34 charter members from diverse fields including business, medicine and law. Members were officially installed through a candle-light and pinning ceremony, followed by the presentation of the club’s pin, gavel and banner.
Geraldine G. Sangao was installed as the new club's president, joined by a board of officers and directors. In her inaugural address, Sangao outlined plans to promote women’s empowerment and advance the welfare of women and girls in Northern Cagayan and Apayao through service and advocacy.
