Women and the Law: A Women's Month Talk on protecting Filipinas
In celebration of Women’s Month, the Zonta Club of Pampanga, Philippines, in partnership with the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) Pampanga Chapter, hosted an informative forum on 18 March, focusing on legal protections for women and children. The event was held at Greene Manor Hotel and drew members of the media, legal experts and community advocates.
Club Past President and legal expert Attorney Karen Anne Guevarra served as the forum’s resource speaker, leading discussions on key legislative measures such as the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act (RA 9262) and the Safe Spaces Act (RA 11313). She, along with ZCP President Gina Rosario Millan, emphasized the critical need for awareness, legal access and the reporting of abuse—especially as many cases remain unreported due to fear, stigma, or lack of information.
Nina Carla “DJ Tyra” Vitug of RW 95.1 FM, KBP Pampanga Chairperson, delivered the welcome message and moderated the Q&A session, fostering meaningful dialogue between the panel and audience. Other KBP officers present included Vice Chair Mark William Canlas (CLTV 36), Secretary Cristina Reyes (DWau), Treasurer Benny Guintu (GNN TV44), Auditor Errole Clark Sico (GV FM) and Standards Performance Officer Rev. Fr. Joseph Mary D. Bacay (Bright FM).
