Zonta Club of Laguna uplifts women and girls
In a continued effort to support vulnerable communities, the Zonta Club of Laguna, Philippines, in partnership with the MOB Foundation Inc. and other organizations, launched two compassionate initiatives aimed at promoting the well-being of expectant mothers and children affected by conflict.
In collaboration with the Basilan Foundation, Zonta facilitated the gift-giving of toys, books and art materials for the Children of War—young beneficiaries from conflict-affected areas in Mindanao. The initiative sought to restore a sense of peace and normalcy in the lives of children living through trauma by offering joyful, creative experiences. Through play and art, the program aims to safeguard their innocence and promote emotional healing, regardless of their living conditions.
“This project is more than just giving gifts—it’s about creating moments of happiness and hope for children who have endured the unimaginable,” said a Zonta representative. The activity emphasized the power of creative expression in promoting mental and emotional well-being among young survivors of crisis.
Meanwhile, Zonta also joined a wide coalition of health and educational institutions to support the 21st National Buntis Day, a seminar and health initiative aimed at equipping expectant mothers with the knowledge and resources they need for a safe and healthy pregnancy.
Held in partnership with St. Michael’s College of Laguna, Z and Golden Z Clubs, the Biñan City Health Office, and other partners, the event featured expert-led seminars, including “Safe Exercise During Pregnancy” by Dr. Maria Crescencia Gacoba and “Breastfeeding: Positioning and Attachment” by Dr. Milagros Borabien. Participants received free medical check-ups, medications, and gift kits containing newborn essentials.
The dual initiatives underscore the club's holistic approach to service—supporting both the earliest stages of life and the children shaped by conflict.
