Zonta Club of Tuguegarao continues its breastmilk donation for infants

In collaboration with the Lal-lo Rural Health Unit, the Zonta Club of Tuguegarao, Philippines, recently held a breastmilk donation drive to provide safe breast milk to infants in emergencies, such as those who are affected by disasters, are critically ill or born prematurely and for those whose mothers were infected by HIV/AIDS.

With their Lalloquena Breast Feeding Friends (BFFs), the club has regularly donated breast milk to the Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC), the largest hospital in Region 2. On March 15, the club delivered 33,600 mL of breast milk to CVMC.

The initiative continues on

The Zonta Club of Tuguegarao, Philippines, led by Club President, Maria Olivia B. Pascual, continues unwavering dedication to helping donate breastmilk, particularly under the "Milk Ko Share Ko" project of the Lal-lo Local Government Unit. The club provides vital assistance by supplying milk bags and breast pumps.

Maria Olivia actively participated in the Milk Collection Unit of LGU Lal-lo, overseen by Dr. Maricon Abbanag. The club ensures that collected breastmilk is safely transported to the CVMC Milk Bank. The milk will benefit vulnerable neonates and babies born with low birth weight or prematurely, whose mothers cannot provide breast milk due to health concerns.

The club recently sent 16,535 mL of breast milk to the hospital. With ongoing support from generous donors and club members, this project will be continuously sustainable pushing the tagline: "Breast Milk is BeZt Milk."
