Project CloZet initiative: ThreadZ of Hope
Blending sustainability, youth empowerment and compassion, the Zonta Club of Tuguegarao, Philippines, launched a special edition of its Project CloZet initiative titled “ThreadZ of Hope: Dressmaking Students’ Gift for Mothers and Girls.”
In collaboration with the Z Club of Cagayan National High School, dressmaking students—guided by teachers Gloria Garo, Remedios Mendoza and Annie Antendido—crafted 100 sets of children’s clothing using donated fabrics. Materials were contributed by Club President Liza Mora-Arroyo and members Tomasa Genoveza, Grace de Vera, Rebecca Cumigad and Aurora Lim.
The finished clothes were distributed to children, including Indigenous Peoples, in the municipality of Lallo, Cagayan, under the leadership of Tuguegarao Immediate Past President and Vice Mayor Maria Olivia “Olive” Pascual.
Beyond providing much-needed garments, the project offered students a powerful lesson in community service and social responsibility. It also eased burdens for mothers in vulnerable communities by offering their children dignity, comfort and care.
ThreadZ of Hope reflects the club's commitment to sustainable, gender-sensitive outreach—empowering girls through skills-based advocacy and uniting generations in support of women and children, one stitch at a time.
