The images of hospitality
The Zonta Club Bologna Due Torri, Italy, is actively contributing to the fight against racial discrimination through “The Images of Hospitality,” a collaborative project with the Dry-Art Association and Salotto delle Muse, under the patronage of the Municipality of Bologna. The initiative is part of the XXI Week of Action Against Racism, promoted by UNAR – the National Office Against Racial Discrimination – and the Week of Legality, organized by the Legislative Assembly of the Emilia-Romagna Region.
The project also falls under Community Schooling, an initiative selected by the national “Con i Bambini” program as part of Italy’s Fund to Combat Educational Poverty Among Children.
One of the most impactful outcomes of the campaign was a moving awareness video titled Put Your Face on Us, created by students of class 1D at Istituto Comprensivo 17 in Bologna. The short film promotes friendship and a shared sense of community, using the power of images to encourage inclusion and empathy. The video quickly resonated with viewers, amassing more than 25,000 views on Instagram in a short time.
The broader campaign included hands-on workshops for students from the Il Guercino and Gandino middle schools, where participants explored racial bias and stereotypes through visual storytelling. Art was used as a language for expression and as a tool to challenge discrimination, turning creative engagement into a platform for social awareness.
Legal experts also contributed to the initiative. Lawyer Roberto Giorgi Ronchi, Vice President of Zonta Club Bologna Due Torri, and Lawyer Barbara Lunghini, joined club president Isabella Boselli to hold discussions with students on the legal and constitutional dimensions of racism. The sessions emphasized that racism is not only a moral issue, but also a violation of national and international human rights laws.
Through educational outreach and creative expression, the club reaffirms its commitment to promoting equality, empowering youth and building a more just and inclusive society.
