Zonta Club of Alytus at the Green Dinner

Members of the Zonta Club of Alytus, Lithuania, and their friends turned this year’s Green Dinner into a celebration of creativity, playfulness and sustainability.

One of the highlights of the evening was the auction, which featured a unique prize: “Dinner with Zonta President Meilė.” Attendees eagerly bid for the chance to spend an evening with club president Meilė Platūkienė. The spirited competition raised smiles, excitement and funds to support “Green Alytus,” an initiative dedicated to planting pine trees to beautify the city.

The Zonta table stood out for its originality. Shoes given a “second life” were transformed into decorative vases filled with greenery, earning the club the award for “Most Ecological Table.” The prize—lush hydrangeas—became a centerpiece of the evening.

The club also established its own prize, awarding an invitation for two to its 30th anniversary celebration. The winner was Robertas Ulinskas, the 2024–2025 president of the Alytus Rotary Club.

Since its launch in 2022 during “Alytus – Lithuanian Capital of Culture,” the Green Dinner has united the community for four consecutive years. Each event raises funds that are transformed into new trees for the city. To date, more than €30,000 has been collected, resulting in the planting of 358 pine trees. This year’s proceeds will fund the planting of mature pines in the autumn.

Organized by the Alytus City Theatre and the autism support foundation “Ambassadors of Change,” with support from businesses, community organizations and the municipality, the Green Dinner has grown into more than just an annual event. It is a tradition that fosters unity, creativity and ecological stewardship.
