Zonta Clubs of Hsinchu and Mie join hands in community service
On 13 September, the Zonta Club of Hsinchu, Taiwan, welcomed members of the Zonta Club of Mie, Japan, for a special celebration marking the establishment of a sisterhood agreement between the two clubs. The milestone, witnessed by more than 80 Zontians and distinguished guests from District 31, highlighted a shared commitment to collaboration, friendship and cross-border partnership.
Hsinchu Club President Ada Lin said the sisterhood demonstrates how true change begins with action. She noted that the agreement symbolizes not only cooperation between clubs but also lasting friendship and trust. Through this partnership, Lin said, both clubs will jointly develop service projects that amplify their impact and advance Zonta’s mission.
The sisterhood was initiated by International Director Vivienne Hsieh, who played a key role in connecting the clubs. Leaders emphasized that the partnership will foster cultural exchanges, volunteer initiatives, youth development programs and other collaborative activities, building bridges between Zontians in Taiwan and Japan.
The celebration banquet featured a performance by the Angel Percussion Ensemble from the Catholic Ren-Ai Foundation in Hsinchu City. In recognition of the children with Down syndrome who performed, the Zonta clubs of Hsinchu and Mie each made donations to support the ensemble.
During the banquet, Lin also presented an award to the Z Club of Zonta Hsinchu, honoring students who created personalized portrait pins for members and handcrafted artistic gifts for guests.
The following day, the Hsinchu Club arranged a visit to the Chin Ai Philharmonic, an orchestra dedicated to improving children’s lives through violin education. After the performance, both clubs donated to support the program, which expands children’s access to music and educational resources.
Organizers expressed gratitude to all Zonta sisters from the Hsinchu Club for their dedication and to Mie Club Founding President Takagi Hisayo and International Director Hsieh for making the sisterhood possible. Since forming the partnership, more than 10 new members have joined the Hsinchu Club, further strengthening its mission.
Club leaders said they hope the friendship between the Zonta Clubs of Hsinchu and Mie will continue to grow as both clubs work together to empower women and girls.
