Strengthening global ties through the Twinning Program

Members of the Zonta e-Club of Central and Southern Australia, Australia, along with Zontians from across the country, the Area Director and the District 23 Amelia Earhart Award Coordinator, recently gathered to celebrate international connection and service through the club’s Twinning Program.

Also in attendance was a representative from the club’s Twinned Club, the Zonta e-Club of Italy I, Italy, highlighting the event’s global spirit.

In support of Zonta International’s mission to empower women worldwide, the club made a donation to the Amelia Earhart Fellowship Fund, which supports women pursuing doctoral degrees in aerospace-related fields. A forthcoming donation will also be made to the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS), whose work aligns closely with Zonta’s goals.

The event reflected the Twinning Program’s mission: to foster global connections, exchange knowledge and promote fellowship among clubs around the world. Through twinning, Zonta clubs gain valuable opportunities to learn from one another and strengthen their collective impact.

A recording of the event was shared with the Twinned Club in Italy, ensuring members who couldn’t attend could still hear the presentation and learn about the vital work of the RFDS.

The RFDS provides essential healthcare services to remote communities across Australia, often saving the lives of women and children during critical moments, such as childbirth. The organization’s employment of women pilots also aligns with the vision of the Amelia Earhart Program, which encourages women’s advancement in aviation and related fields.
