Zonta Club of Dhaka III holds spring fundraising event
The Zonta Club of Dhaka III, Bangladesh, recently hosted a fundraising event, Spring Adda (also known as Boishakhi Adda), to support its ongoing community service projects focused on women’s empowerment and children’s education.
Held in a festive atmosphere, the event brought together more than 200 attendees—including past and present governors, area directors, club presidents, Zontians and guests—who purchased tickets for 2,500 taka each. Guests were treated to an afternoon of music, dance performances, a saree auction, and a raffle draw featuring prizes such as air tickets to Bangkok and Cox’s Bazar.
The celebration also featured a slideshow presentation showcasing the club’s flagship initiatives: Shishu Bikash Kendra (SBK), a school for underprivileged children, and Deep Shikha Training Center (DTC), an adult education and tailoring program that equips under-resourced women with income-generating skills. The event’s spring-themed lunch included traditional Bangladeshi dishes—rice, fish, beef, vegetables and local cakes.
Thanks to sponsorships from banks, corporate offices and Zontians, the event raised 15 million taka—enough to sustain both SBK and DTC for eight months. The fundraising success follows continued efforts by the club to sell handmade items in support of students' access to better education.
Dressed in bright, colorful sarees, the club met their fundraising goal and celebrated not only cultural heritage but also a shared mission to uplift lives through service and solidarity.
