Skills development program for women in beauty care

Zonta celebrates International Women’s Day by recognizing the achievements of women across all national, ethnic, linguistic, economic and political backgrounds. This year, the Zonta Club I of Colombo, Sri Lanka, marked the occasion by highlighting the 2025 theme: #AccelerateAction, which underscores the urgency of eliminating systemic barriers and biases that hinder women’s equality.

In partnership with the Foundation of Goodness, the club organized a workshop for 65 women at the Seenigama community center, focusing on beauty care, social media marketing and financial management.

The club also sponsored six months of beauty care training for 28 girls from highly vulnerable families. The club extends its gratitude to its members for their generosity in supporting this initiative.

Together with the Foundation of Goodness, the club is committed to providing life-changing opportunities for women and girls to achieve gender equity.

Ten members of the club traveled to Seenigama early in the morning to participate in the program. Upon completion of the six-month training, the club will reconnect with the 28 sponsored girls. This initiative will significantly benefit the community by empowering women to start their own businesses and enhance local resources.
