Zonta Club of Riverside celebrates International Women’s Day

The Zonta Club of Riverside, USA, celebrated International Women’s Day and Zonta Rose Day on 8 March with its first “Join Me for a Cup of Coffee or Tea” event at the Casa Blanca Library.

The gathering brought community members together to recognize women's achievements and reflect on ongoing efforts to advance gender equity. As part of the program, Club President Debbie Waltzer shared the story of the yellow rose, a symbol of Zonta’s mission, and welcomed a new member, Carrie Madrid.

A highlight of the event was a personal story shared by a guest speaker, who spoke about her experience being diagnosed with stage three breast cancer at age 40 as a single mother of three. Her journey led her to establish The Care Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting others facing similar challenges.

Organizers said the story offered an emotional and inspiring perspective on resilience, strength and service to others.

The event also featured refreshments, including macarons and scones donated by Isabella’s Cupcakes and More.

The Zonta Club of Riverside will host upcoming events on 19 April via Zoom and on 30 May at the Casa Blanca Library. Community members are encouraged to participate and learn more about the organization’s work supporting women and girls.
