On 11 March, the Zonta Club of Central Tuguegarao, Philippines, led by Club President Josefina Sedano and Service Committee Chair Raquel Arnedo, conducted a site visit to the Agta Community in Sitio Nasiping, Fugu, Ballesteros, Cagayan to assess the location for a planned infrastructure project.
The primary goal of the visit was to inspect the proposed site for the construction of a common comfort room, which aims to benefit the Agta families residing in the area.
Before the inspection, the club met with barangay officials to formally coordinate the project and ensure community support.
During the ocular inspection, the team found that the Agta Community, home to approximately 52 families, faces an urgent need for a safe and sustainable water source. Recognizing the critical necessity for clean water, club members immediately coordinated with local officials and expressed their commitment to funding the development of a water source to address this pressing concern.
The club pledged to return to the community to implement these vital initiatives, ensuring that families gain access to safe and potable water for their daily needs.
This initiative is part of the club’s ongoing commitment to uplifting marginalized communities and advocating for basic needs access, particularly among indigenous groups in the region.
