Zonta Club of Central Tuguegarao: Now forming Zonta Club of Northern Cagayan and Apayao
A new Zonta club in Area 4 is on the horizon as the Zonta Club of Northern Cagayan and Apayao, Philippines, prepares to launch.
The Zonta Club of Central Tuguegarao, Philippines, initiated the formation of the new club and met with a core group of prospective members on 28 February, in Abulug, Cagayan.
The Sponsoring, Organizing and Mentoring (SOMing) activity was led by Country Club Creator Mila Lauigan, with support from Central Tuguegarao Club President Josie Sedano and Past President Connie Reyes. Area 4 Director Racquel Reyes-Aglaua also attended, offering guidance and encouragement in the club’s creation.
Approximately 15 prospective members—representing the legal, medical, dental, government, business and academic sectors—expressed their commitment to establishing a Zonta club in the region. During the meeting, an interim set of officers was elected and tasked with recruiting additional members and planning activities ahead of the club’s formal chartering.
Originally, the group proposed naming the club Zonta Club of Apayao, but given that many members are from northern Cagayan, they opted for the more inclusive name Zonta Club of Northern Cagayan and Apayao.
With Zonta International already granting authority to charter, the club is expected to be fully operational within the first half of 2025.
