New club formation

The Zonta Club of Sonargaon Dhaka, Bangladesh, was officially established through the united encouragement of club creator Nazma Altab and District 25 Governor Dr. Zareen Delawar Hussain.

The club has been active since 1 August, beginning with 20 committed members, including young professionals and classified members representing 13 diverse classifications.

In a short span of time, the club has already demonstrated commitment to Zonta’s mission of empowering women and girls. Members have conducted advocacy programs to prevent child marriage, organized health and hygiene awareness initiatives and established a Z Club and Youth Club within six months of its formation.

Leaders said the rapid growth reflects the dedication, enthusiasm and leadership potential of the members. They noted that continued guidance and encouragement will help build a strong, vibrant and impactful club aligned with Zonta’s global mission.

District 25 leadership has placed strong focus on engaging youth members, recognizing them as future torchbearers of the organization. Youth members are actively working in schools to raise awareness and prevent child marriage.

With the establishment of the Sonargaon club, Bangladesh is now home to seven Zonta clubs and six active Z and Youth Member Clubs, further strengthening efforts to advance gender equality across the country.
