Zonta Club of Naga and Camarines Sur advances advocacy through climate action and youth leadership
The Zonta Club of Naga and Camarines Sur, Philippines, advanced its commitment to advocacy, education and youth empowerment through a series of initiatives aligned with Zonta International’s Zonta NOW and the celebration of International Women’s Day and Zonta Rose Month.
As part of these efforts, the club organized a tree-planting activity at the Naga City Eco Park, symbolizing growth, hope and a shared commitment to building a better world for women and girls.
The activity underscored the message that meaningful change begins with action, encouraging members to reflect on the role of empowerment in creating lasting impact. Following the activity, members gathered for breakfast at Arco Diez, strengthening fellowship and camaraderie among Zontians.
In a separate initiative held in line with National Women’s Month, St. Joseph School hosted an educational seminar on puberty and menstruation for students in Grades 4 to 6.
The session was conducted by Dr. Cara Imperial, vice chair for advocacy of Zonta International District 17, Area 5, and provided students with accurate, age-appropriate information to help them better understand and navigate physical and emotional changes during puberty.
The initiative was organized by the Z Club of St. Joseph School (Naga City) Inc. under the leadership of President Prosperity Melandria Romero, with the guidance of Maricris Singson. The seminar emphasized the importance of education, support and open dialogue in empowering young girls during a critical stage of development.
The club also supported youth leadership development through the 3rd Youth Z Summit, which brought together Z Club and Golden Z Club members for a day of learning, reflection and collaboration.
The summit opened with remarks from Area Director Susan Lim, followed by a message from Chair Lourdes “Lulu” Almeda Sese highlighting the role of youth in shaping an inclusive future.
Speakers included Fr. Bernard Lagatic, who spoke on values-based leadership and personal development, and Michael Villezar of ATI, who encouraged participants to take on leadership roles and become changemakers.
Attorney Romarianne Rosaura Romero led a discussion on the Safe Spaces Act, empowering participants to advocate for safe, respectful and inclusive communities for women and girls.
The event also featured team-building activities facilitated by Zontians Hallivin Arevalo and Marites Linsoco, fostering collaboration, leadership and camaraderie among participants.
