Zonta Club of Laguna marks 35th anniversary and launches legacy project

The Zonta Club of Laguna, Philippines, celebrated its 35th Founding Anniversary—its Coral Year—honoring more than three decades of service, advocacy and community leadership dedicated to empowering women and uplifting families across Laguna. The milestone serves as a tribute to the unwavering dedication of past presidents, officers and members whose collective efforts have shaped the club into a strong and vibrant force for advancing the status of women.

The club also recently launched one of its most meaningful undertakings: its participation in An Evening for Brave Warriors, the second charity gala of the I Want To Share Foundation held on 1 August, at the Shangri-La The Fort in Bonifacio Global City. The event paid tribute to children courageously battling cancer at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH).

Demonstrating deep compassion and a commitment to service, the Zonta Club of Laguna donated ₱550,000 to support the foundation’s initiatives for pediatric cancer patients. The contribution was made possible through the generosity and leadership of several Zontians: Congresswoman Len Alonte, a past club president known for her championing of compassionate service; Mayor Arlene Arcillas, an inspiring member recognized for her leadership in community development; and Congresswoman Ann Matibag, current club president, whose guidance reflects the club’s mission of empowering communities with care and purpose.

Funds from the gala will support key programs at PGH, including the expansion of the Bone Marrow Transplant Wing, acquisition of advanced infusion pumps, continued support for the Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Department and initiatives promoting early detection and survival awareness for childhood cancer.

The event featured stories of healing, a fashion show presented by young cancer survivors and a charity auction—powerful reminders of courage and hope in the face of illness. In recognition of its long-term impact, the Zonta Club of Laguna has declared this undertaking a Legacy Project, affirming its enduring mission to build a better world for women, girls and the children whose futures they shape.

As the club enters its next chapter, members reaffirm their commitment to service, sisterhood and meaningful change. For the Zonta Club of Laguna, 35 years of purpose and progress stand as a promise of more compassionate work ahead—guided by the belief that where women lead with love, miracles follow.
