The journey of empowerment

The Zonta Club of Greater Dhaka, Bangladesh, is fostering a new generation of leaders through its Z and Youth Club, a dynamic youth wing guided by Club President Anhara Siddiky and District Z and Youth Chair Nasreen Khan.

Established to engage young people in Zonta’s mission, the club has already transformed ideals into action, addressing pressing community needs while instilling values of service and leadership. Members have championed gender equality through advocacy, including a debate on ending child marriage, and celebrated World Youth Skills Day by donating sewing machines to promote sustainable livelihoods. They also hosted a mental health workshop to support community well-being.

The club’s community service initiatives include visits to old homes on Mother’s Day, teaching at a community school, launching a sustainable water filter project, organizing an art competition and holding programs for economically disadvantaged youth. Each activity reflects their dedication to inclusivity and empowerment.

The first anniversary celebration of the Z and Youth Club highlighted the achievements of its young members. In a formal ceremony, members received pins and sashes recognizing their contributions, followed by performances of music and dance that showcased the vibrancy of the youth movement within Zonta.

Club President Siddiky and Nasreen Khan’s vision has created a platform where young people not only serve today but prepare to lead tomorrow. The Z and Youth Club of Greater Dhaka stands as a model of how youth engagement can strengthen Zonta’s mission to advance the status of women and children.
