United for a safer and smarter world for women and girls
The Zonta Club of Isabela, Philippines, in partnership with the local government unit of Quezon, conducted an empowerment lecture on 27 March in celebration of National Women’s Month.
The event brought together women from the community for a day of learning focused on legal rights, safety and wellness.
Zontian Attorney Carol Donato led a discussion on cybercrime laws, with a focus on preventing online sexual abuse or exploitation of children and child sexual abuse or exploitation materials. She also addressed the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act and cyberlibel, emphasizing the importance of protecting digital dignity.
Attorney Bern Andumang delivered a lecture on the Safe Spaces Act, also known as the “Bawal Bastos Law,” reinforcing the right to safety and respect in public and private spaces.
Dr. Daniel Darius Aquino, Medical Officer III of LGU Quezon, shared information on cervical cancer prevention, highlighting the importance of health awareness as part of women’s empowerment.
In addition to the educational sessions, the program included games organized by the local government unit, fostering camaraderie and engagement among participants.
The event marked the fifth year of collaboration between the Zonta Club of Isabela and the Quezon community. Organizers expressed appreciation to Mayor Daryl Gascon and Ms. Annie Enfectana of the Department of Social Welfare and Development for their continued support and partnership.
The Zonta Club of Isabela reaffirmed its commitment to serving the women of Quezon, stating, "Huwag po sana kayong magsasawa," because it will not stop advancing its mission to build a better world for women and girls.
