Zonta Clubs of Hualien and Taoyuan unite for social service and sisterhood

The Zonta Club of Hualien, Taiwan, led by Club President Peng Liping, traveled to Taoyuan to join the Zonta Club of Taoyuan in a friendship exchange and joint social service activity focused on supporting a local care institution in need.

Nearly 30 members and their families from the Hualien club visited the Xiangyu Qizhi Educational Care Institution in Longtan District, where both clubs provided essential supplies and donated a combined NT$100,000 to help construct a new exterior wall for the facility. The donation aimed to address urgent infrastructure needs and improve living conditions for the residents. Club President Peng expressed the hope that the donation and actions of the Hualien and Taoyuan club could serve as a model for those who want to help disadvantaged groups and continue to care for the institution.

The event also featured performances arranged by the Hualien club, including flute, erhu and vocal music to engage with the institution’s residents. During one performance, a female resident joined in dancing, while another was moved to tears by a song that stirred feelings of homesickness. The program created meaningful moments of connection between Zonta members and the residents.

The visit succeeded in empowering women, supporting education, and engaging in diverse community service efforts. The joint initiative allowed members from both clubs to strengthen sisterhood ties, exchange best practices and work together in support of a shared social cause.
